After all these years no 2nd season is pretty sad news, I might need to read the manga in the future.

Praiseworthy series I enjoyed a lot of new aspects to it and gonna give it 8/10

Meh, what a boring anime, I've heard so much praise about it and watched it only to get disappointed. The characters were interesting at first but turned out to be bland and boring, the OST was meh, can't remember a single good soundtrack on that anime, it was THAT bad, the story was boring, the emotional moments were meh, the opening and the visuals was lovely though.

This anime provided more questions than answers and I disliked the fact that those characters are "gender-less" but were referred as males when they look exactly like females without tits, It was jarring and distracting, meh.

The only good thing this anime had was the beautiful animation and the pretty good opening, everything else was bad, including the jokes. But man, the animation was lovely.

I disliked this anime but I would definitely watch a 2nd season if it ever comes out, I want more of that lovely visuals, this is CGI done right.

I'am reading the manga and the art direction of this anime did a magnificent work.

I always pay my respect for classics, and Houseki no Kuni is surely is in that club.

The greatest work of anime with "CGI in traditional animation" so far in Japan. Or better saying "traditional animation really improved and not damaged by CGI" (finally)

10/10 just for that.

Also because the story is well enough built, intriguing, remembering Haibane x Kujira. I love fantastic scenarios full of mysteries.

If a second season don't came with the same team who did this job, the result could be frustrating.

It was good 8/10. The show got a big boost in score from episode 7. Plus, I truly enjoyed 85% of Ventricosus' screen time. Started to put this anime on hold, but then Ventricosus showed up. I'm more partial to 2D but this was really pretty for a CGI anime. I enjoyed seeing Phosphophyllite's transformation animated. I would like to see a season 2.

For now I'm just going to continue watching the only YouTube video with Antarcticite that doesn't make me cry.

Fantastic anime, felt really unique, haven't seen anything quite like it.
It's a shame it's only 12 episodes and we're just barely getting to know the world.
No confirmation on a second season yet either, though I'm sure it'll arrive.

The episode leaves us with so many questions unanswered, we've barely touched the surface of the story I feel like.
It was obvious "Master" was hiding a lot of information from the gems from the start and seeing as 3000+ years have passed AT LEAST since the human race ... there's so much to explore.

The animation was absolutely beautiful, getting to know all the different kinds of gems was fun.
I'm sure there's a lot more considering we got to know about Antarc and Padparadscha near the end of the anime.

I just wish we got to know more about the world but I guess we'll have to wait for it together with Phos ... hoping for a season 2.

We only scratched the surface in this first season. So many questions remain unanswered and it seems we are not even going to get the second season? What a disappointment.

However, I really liked this show. It had an interesting story and characters.

Got some chills when that lunarian rolled her eyes from the back of her head, not only because it was freaky but also because we were getting somewhere, phos was so close to scratching the surface of everything.

Of course a lot of stuff is still left up in the air, but for this anime series alone I think it ended in a very satisfactory place even though it didn’t wrap up too much. I’m very happy we ended with some moments with cinnabar, marking the beginning of something significant. I’d love to see them adapt this further one day, but for what we got, it was damn solid.

Solid, fun, unique, and beautiful. On top of that I just realized they also got an all star VA cast. Literally nothing I can think to complain about before going into some really petty nitpicks. 7 or an 8 out of 10 for me personally, I’ll have to think about it some more.

Padpa is pretty likeable. I found the finale to be pretty alright though.

Nothing really stands out and I don't consider it to be the peak of the series by any means.

But overall I would give this either a 7 or 8 (probably the former) I would have given it a 9 if that phos personality change never happened but sadly it did :( I miss the old phos but oh well

Regardless, it was a nice watch and had some of the best cgi I've ever looked at in my life. I'm looking forward to a sequel if there ever will be one

Amazing is the word I described to this anime. This anime has a unique concept using gems as the characters and world-building. Phos's character development is great she's my favorite gem in the show. I'm going to read the manga cause I hate it when they leave with a cliffhanger I want to know how and why the Master related to the Lunarians

Padparasche looks like a badass. And that little scene of Phos hiding behind Sensei was so adorable. The main point of the story in the first season was probably Cinnabar, but Phos forgot completely about him I guess. His promise and everything else. And he still thought about it, all the time. In the end, he wanted to try to team up with Phos. It shows that he's done with the night thing and wants to do something fun and have a change of pace.

We could see the old version of Phos in the water, that made my heart break. A cheerful, happy and clumsy girl changed into a confident, serious girl who tries to unravel the truth (girl/boy).

I can't give it a 10, the ending is telling me to ''read the manga''. And it doesn't really feel like an anime ending for me. It was still a really amazing episode. A good way to end the first season. A cliffhanger which tells you ''I want a second season of this or I gotta read the manga''

The animation, mainly CGI was beautiful. Never thought I'd see something as beautiful as this in 3D. The art was well done. CGI was phenomenal. And the characters were all unique and fleshed out. Phos, Bort and Dia were my favorite.

9/10

It was nice to see everyone in the end for a little bit, having fun and doing their usual work.

Welp. That was great. But now I need more. I'm definitely going to read the manga as soon as possible, but I'm still gonna miss the anime's beauty so I hope a season 2 will come one day or another.

Overall, as expected, that was a beautiful show. The setting is wonderful, the story very interesting, the messages very touching, the characters super endearing and I loved Phos.
I find all the mystery behind the Lunarians and Sensei very intriguing, I can't help to see what it's all about. Of course I'm also really looking forward to Phos' development, though I'm scared for this poor thing's mental health.

About the anime itself, I still have the little criticism that it still really felt like the prologue of something very big so it is clear everything and everyone will receive more development afterwards and for now I'm not fully attached to most of the gems (as adorable as they were), but it was still a great experience. I give it an 8/10, and as I said I'm definitely going to jump on the manga whenever I can.

Kind of an unsatisfying ending tbh. They did a lot to build the world and reveal some of the mysteries but at the same time every mystery brought more questions that we won’t see answered unless you read the manga. The dub was fantastic as well. Definitely the most visually appealing anime though. Diamond and Jade are best gems. 8/10.

Wonderful, it's amazing how much Phosphophyllite has grown and developed these past several episodes! Let's break it down then!

To this date, Phosphophyllite has gained various new skills and experience on top of her upgraded arms and legs, her days of fighting in the winter allow her to gain the durability to be awake without sleeping for days on end, not to mention the will to resist the harsh condition of winter. Followed by her brief time being Bort's partner. Bort's unmatched combat expertise is a valuable skill to be taught and learned. And now, after all that, Phosphophyllite's curiosity to uncover this secret lead her to learn everything about the Lunarians, along with other information here and there. And now for the creme de la creme...
Padparadscha The Wise have awoken after more than two centuries of slumber, only to fall right back into it again, but not without telling Phosphophyllite a piece of crucial advice... "Keep your composure and think first" For the eager and impulsive Phos, this is an unthinkable and impossible behaviour to apply, but as do the seasons change, so did Phos herself.

That last piece of advice is something that must be kept in mind with utmost importance, Phos isn't going to progress much if she does not calm down and think rationally. However doing so, only made her past image drift further and further away from her current self. Something that's perfectly encapsulated by the scene near the end, where we see the reflection of past Phos cheerfully admiring her cuteness, followed by the new expressionless Phos brushing that phantom image as it walks with not a shred of carelessness, but with a goal. For that, I get why Phos herself felt somewhat envious of how she was back then, after all... Having fun and being happy all the time, not minding the time and space is the best feeling ever. Alas, the time of idleness have come to pass, it's only ever gonna be work from now on...

= = = = = = = = = =

This finale wrapped up everything excellently, one of the main running goals that Phos had was to find a 'fun' job for Cinnabar, which she did. Though it's not a fun job, it's a step towards that direction (hopefully). Aside from that, we get to see all the other gems on Earth carrying out their daily activities, it's a charming gesture of farewell for this show to the audience. As the cherry on top, the last scene where Phosphophyllite confronts her sensei after being called by him leaves a much-needed tinge of a cliffhanger.

This show is something that I should've watched back in 2017, personally, 2017 was a year full of new iconic anime series, some of which can be considered masterpieces. Though it matters not that I watched this now, it's a simple, trivial regret of missing the trend-train, this show was mystifying and fantastical, it's certainly lustrous as the title implies. The art style was very prominent and the colours well... Lustrous and vibrant of course! The animation itself is some of the best amongst predominantly CGI anime. The OST's brilliance need not be said, the OST scores and composition is a blessing to hear, but above all are the development of the characters and the mysterious plot that revolves around the world in which the characters live. This sense of the post-apocalyptic world can be felt despite how heavenly the Earth is, I'm eager to find out what has befallen our kind, our species, the humans. Though knowing that there aren't any news or even plan for S2 even nearing the year of 2022, I might set forth into the Land of manga instead.

So it did end openly, as expected. To be honest they should have expanded upon some of the plot points, but no it got left out for us watchers to do the work and go pick up the manga. Well it is what it is, so no point in nitpicking.

Other than that, was a pleasant surprise to have such sublime visuals throughout, not even a speck of complaint in that department. Liked most of the characters too, but I guess the story picked up a tad late for me. Though very much hopeful for a sequel, and I really wish it does get one someday.

The anime really seems kinda pointless without a second season. Don't get me wrong, it was really intriguing to watch. However, there are just certain things that just don't add up

Firstly, the whole point of this is that they are fighting an enemy to survive. The whole episode about the snail king had nothing to do with anything except giving Phos character development.

Secondly, are we gonna forget the whole Majour plothole about the person who looks like a gem that lives in the ocean.

Thirdly, The whole first original plot point was that Phos is supposed to be compiling an encyclopedia. What does a giant shell in the sky have to do with that?

Fourthly, okay so Phos is doing her encyclopedia, cool. Now all of sudden we're saying screw that to help someone that really isn't our friend, find a new job that isn't boring.

Fifthly, obviously, we know the encyclopedia was just busywork. Now, all of a sudden, Phos has new legs (for no reason other than character/story development) so it's screw the encyclopedia and on to fighting.

Honestly tho I really did enjoy the animation and artwork and music. The story just seems shaky, and then the way it ended left me like "well wtf was the point of this".

Great show, great direction, great visuals, great audio work- this really is the complete package.

This final episode didn't leave the punch like I thought it would, but it definitely has me intrigued for what may be a set-up for an S2 or a manga read.

What an interesting world these characters live in, I wish I could have enjoyed it longer.

I am absolutely flabbergasted. The way all the gems were animated in CGI was ethereal, the fights were well choreographed, and most importantly the world building and the plot was too good. I know for now that it's been almost 5 years and yet there is no S2 announcement or teaser in sight. This is unfortunate, so I will be now starting the manga from the start. Welp, at least I will be able to demarcate the gems by the colors which I saw in the anime lol.

I very much enjoyed this show. The world and storytelling is incredible. This anime immerses me into fascinating lands, where humans made out of gems are the remaining living species and must defend their lives from Moon Dwellers. The gem humans themselves are full of personality and have unique characteristics that are introduced incrementally as the story progresses. The main character, Phos, is the most interesting gem of all. She makes the anime fun and gripping because of her reckless actions with the world and characters. The other gem characters are pretty fantastic and play a key role in helping Phos, as she is one of the weakest gems unable to defend from Moon Dwellers.

Solid 10/10
