by Whispersecret
A good compilation of words to substitute, and I commend Whispersecret on not using such terms as 'sausage' and 'melons'. A mistake that some tend to do in writing when referring to certain anatomical features. I highly reccomend for future writer's to check out her other "how to..." submissions. Especially "How to name your Characters".
this is a very useful reference tool for any sexual writing- especially when it comes to a big blank in the head-- LOL. thanks for putting it so succinctly.
peacelove+light, and happy writing- keep it "cumming"! :)~
While its a nice list, many of the words do not inspire sexy thoughts. Such as "she sucked on his 'nads'". That just doesn't seem sexy. It is a hard problem, but when using substitute words, make sure they invoke the feeling that you are trying to convey.
I'm sure i can get some more so i can send them you....
thanks again!
Sometimes late at night I run out of synonyms for those "naughty" words. Thanks for the help!
Ok, this is one of the best guides I have ever read, more useful then a spork, and we all know sporks can be used for anything, I once fought off an entire alien invasion with only a spork and a nudie magazine! lol ok so that wasnt true, i made it up, was just a dream but anyways
I have to say you really help me fuel my stories beyond what they were, as well received as they already are. I would also like to comment that these words can easily convey the emotion you want them to in the right context and under the right character conditions, you have to pay attention to these things :D
Anyways you are a lifesaver i have this bookmarked and it is open every time i write a story, ok so this is getting to be long winded but hey if you want to read my stories you can check my profile or check my website (email me if you want it)
Nice synthetic synonim list...but keep it growing...use your imagination!
Here are a few more:
Orgasm: explode, splash, extasi, bliss
Cum: hot fluid, love fountain
Pussy: rose
Lips: curtains
what about synonims for exited?:
aroused, horny, hot, etc...
for penetration? (to impale, to posess?)
for mastubation? (jerk off...)
and for all those sexy sounds: to moan, to scream, to perspire?...
I think you could add a couple to the tits list:
jugs, gazongas, hooters, and titties
You are to be commended for your excellent supplementing of Roget's Thesarus, which is sorely lacking in this area. Besides that, you have given me some inspiration for some future stories.
None of my women friends know what to call the vertical belly hair line between the pubic hair and the navel usually on a man. Do you know of one??
What to call the line of hair between a guy's navel and where his pubs begin?
Treasure Trail :D
I've bookmarked this one. . .between the original text and the comments, it has added quite a bit to my erotic synonym vocabulary. Not everything would work every time, but this piece does give more options.
ASS: ONION,CAKE,RUMP,BUMPER,TRUNK,BADONKADONK PUSSY: NAPPY DUGOUT,CAT,MY BEST FRIEND,NEST.
The main list above has at least one wrong example: NIPPLES refers to a very different part of the anatomy than AREOLA, so these terms should NOT be used as synonyms. (They don't even refer to the same quantity: nipples=plural areola=singular; also, 'aureola' is preferred spelling.).<br>
<br>
Amateur authors routinely refer to body parts with the names of other parts located in the same general vicinity, as seen in the example: a nipple is the dark cylindrical nub at the very tip of the breast, while an aureola [aureolae=plural] is the slightly raised disc-shaped halo of dark skin that surrounds the base of the nipple.
<br><br>
Other terms commonly misused as synonyms include:<ul>
<li>anus / rectum / sphincter</li>
<li>vagina / snatch / slit / labia / clit</li>
<li>come (<i>verb</i>) / cum (<i>noun</i>)</li>
<li>cum / sperm / wad</li>
<li>scrotum / balls / package</li></ul>
Note that no two terms within any of these groupings mean the same thing, e.g. scrotum is not the same as balls nor the same as package; package does not mean balls nor does it mean scrotum.<br><br>
Look these up if you don't know the distinctions among them, and watch out for others you may be misusing. It's good to use synonyms to break up the monotony, but it's even more important that your synonyms mean the same thing.<br><br>I'd love to see this thesaurus expand and grow wiki-fashion, which would also make it easy to include a section of noninterchangeable terms like these. An anti-thesaurus, anyone? <br><br>--Big Gus Dickus
This is just the sort of information a writer new to Literotica needs. It might be a small part of a story but all the parts make the whole!
Thanks for taking the time to write your very helpful posts. I made you a favorite author on the basis of their content.
I noticed that you used the word sex, for the male genitalia. It is my though that it is also applicable to the female genitalia. Again just a thought.
and this is not an ad or anything but I have found that by far the best catalogue for synonyms is an app called Companion Synonyms for the iphone. I use it all the time and the list of alternative words/phrases shits all over Roget's. Every writer should use it if they can get their hands on it.

It would be helpful if anybody could give such synonyms for waves, we often describe orgasms in terms of waves right.
I mean words like ricochet.
An old verb for having an orgasm was "to die" - knowing this adds an interesting new interpretation to may passages found in Shakespear and elsewhere...
hey: embarrassed very much; BUT:
what does BBW mean?
TY,
Signed,
Waaaaaay too embarrassed to sign my name...
You missed 'wang' for cock.
Other than that....
Damn, that's a lot of synonyms.

Just a few of my own to add to your admirable mix. Sorry I can't remember the code to make this into a hyper-link

Needed a list and dictionary.com was sadly lacking. You've made my day!
Thank you for this list! I'm new to writing in the erotic style, and this list is just what I was hoping for. I found that having it open while I write is helpful, especially when I've moved into round 2 or 3 of the sex and feel like I've already used up most of the common words for describing things. Thanks again. I will return to this list often!
This is a great resource! Find myself stumbling against repetition a lot, so I really appreciate you taking the time to lay these out. Thanks!
I've been writing for many years, but I'm new to erotic writing and I've needed something like this. I read all of your stuff for some help. Thank you kindly for writing it.
I haven't yet written a story, but I have thoughts in my head that I want to write. The first category I went to is the HOW TO section. I've found a lot very helpful advice on here. Yours is one of the best. Thank you!
Thanks for this. Your orgasm terms seem mostly from the male perspective. Add some female words? Explode, lift off, get lost in the feeling, melt, pop, have a fit ...?
This is great!
I think you over looked "clit" on "clitoris". I only bring it up because I see it used a lot when describing a small penis on feminine transsexual women.
